Singapore Idol Big Band Performance Reviews

So Today was Big Band Night...the night were greats like sinatra, ellington showed off their ability to mingle with the band...well tonight we had a great backup band....which was definately much better than the rock n roll night one...well heres my take on tonight's performances..

Christopher

He wasn't good...ok..perhaps he was much better than how he sounded 2 weeks ago..but you can see he can't handle this genre. I noticed that he has the tendency to go flat when sustaining long notes. His voice wasn't powerful to handle that song either...if i were to give him a score...i would probably say 6/10....possibly the worse performance tonight...

Olinda

Man she's darn good! Weeks ago there was talk that she was going too safe and stuff , singing in the same style...but this is one person whom i believe is getting more and more comfortable with the songs she is picking. Okay..perhaps sensuality isn't her speciality but hey..with the way she's singing ..who's giving a damn! Fever..a good song...and we must take notice, it isn't easy for a lady to sing a low song...and she showed all her vocal powers out in this one...a 8.5/10!

Taufik

The song was good...but i felt he doesn't have a big band kind of voice as much as he tried to pretend or convince the crowd that he has one....But it was a good performance entertainment wise...I don't know why the judges said he was good with all genres when i felt that he didn't put his heart and soul to this song...but at least better than christopher...a 7/10

Daphne

Her performance was good...one of the better ones....haha..and i too agree that she opens her legs too wide when she sings.. Her smiles really bring out the way she sings the song...She didn't go flat on the song like what some judges/critics suggest...it isn't easy to sing a song in a happy tone and maintaining control over it...and for that i give her a 7.5/10

Leandra

She was in danger of getting knocked out weeks ago..and i think she might go into the last 3 again this week. Not for the fact that she is singing worse than the rest, but i think she's not getting the support she deserves. Indeed, she has one of the better vocals amongst the rest of the pack and in my opinion, be one of the best representatives to represent sg in world idol. But ken summed it up best, she isn't improving fast enough...tonight though...was not a bad performance...definately gave the song some justice as well as some entertainment value...8/10

Sylvester

Mr Syl has been on the receiving end of a poor performance at last weeks performance as well as the disco ones....and whilst many has claimed that this will be the final nail in the coffin for this "rock" dude (including me), he has answered the critics in the best possible manner...Churning out a slow track which would not only hide his bon jovi-isque vocals in the best manner, but also enable him to put his heart into the song....and what would result is a guaranteed success formula...just look at the support he's getting even before he sings....it would be however a mistake to say that his was the best performance tonight...because simply..i can't stand his pronunciations..and because..it wasn't something that was spectacular...on par with olinda... 8.5/10

okay..tonight's show was possibly the one i enjoyed most..because all of em sang well (except christopher)...well done..hope that they keep it up...
